How to Navigate Between Different Locations
Locations are the collective term for the hierarchy supporting your sensor architecture within your Organization on SecondSky Data. For more information please see What is a Location.
Sensors will generally be enrolled at a Room or Zone tier, but certain sensors, like the Weather Station could be enrolled at a Site or Facility tier. When viewing the dashboard or databoard of a specific tier, data will either be shown as an average of data collected at that tier or a comparison between data collected at the tier below. For more information please see the Working with Your Data help center category.
There are various ways in which to navigate between zones:
- Using the Location Selector on the sidebar menu.
- Using the breadcrumbs at the top of certain pages.
- Using the navigation dropdowns on certain pages.
Using the Location Selector
- Hover over the left-hand sidebar menu bar or click the menu-lock icon on the top left of the page to open the sidebar menu.
- Click on the Select location option.
- Use the dropdown inputs to select the location you are looking for.
- Click on the Update Location button.
If the page you are currently viewing can also be shown for the newly selected location (a Dashboard for instance), the page will update to the new location immediately. If the current page does not have a corresponding view for the newly selected location (the Crops management page viewed at a site level, while navigating to a Zone, for example), then the contextual menu will open in the sidebar so that you can navigate to an alternate page that will correspond to the new location.
Using Breadcrumbs
Certain pages, Dashboards for instance, will display the location path relevant to the currently selected location in a header at the top of the page. This path will show as links to each location from the top of the hierarchy (organization), down to the current location. Clicking on any of these links will redirect the page to that location.
Using the Navigation Dropdowns
As with Breadcrumbs above, certain pages, Dashboards for instance, will include at least one navigation dropdown (also known as a select input) on the top right of the page. Selecting an option in the dropdown will redirect the page to the selected location. These dropdowns are primarily used to drill down lower in the hierarchy than the current location - to select a Room when viewing a Facility, for instance.
When sensors are enrolled at the currently selected location, a second dropdown will display next to the location dropdown allowing you to navigate to the corresponding page by selecting a specific sensor from the available options.
